As a student-athlete, I’ve always viewed sports as a practice session for life. And now that my practice session is over, I’d like to share with you some of the ways in which sports have helped prepare me for life:
I learned that attitude is everything. I learned that self-discipline and hard work generally produce positive results. I learned that being a captain does not mean people will follow your directions–it means you have an opportunity to earn people’s respect and serve others. I learned that encouragement often goes further than criticism. And as a goalkeeper, I learned that you cannot win the game by yourself.
Like athletics, life is a team sport. If you train to be your personal best, encourage your teammates to be their best and leave everything out on the field–chances are together, you and your team, will be successful.
I studied Broadcast Journalism in the Philip Merrill College of Journalism, with a concentration in leadership studies. I'm now an Experience Design Master's candidate at Brandcenter, 2022.
At the University of Maryland, I was recognized as a Dean’s List student and a Academic All-Big Ten athlete. I had a 3.966 cumulative GPA, and I'm also a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society and the Alpha Lambda Delta Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society. In 2019, I was awarded the NATAS student production award and the BEA award of excellence. This past spring, I graduated summa cum laude as a member of the Maryland Medallian Society, winning the ICA Academic Achievement award and the Epply/Beebe award.

We’re so lucky that she transferred here. Her optimism, creativity, she’s really going to be a future superstar in the television world, I personally believe. And she’s just a great role model for our entire team.
She has an incredible creative eye and can lead when given the chance. Her positive attitude, no matter how dull the task, really made her an asset to our staff.
With a personality that is hard not to like, Andi shows up every day on and off the field with a smile on her face. She is the complete package of a team player. Because she is consciously proactive at making herself a better person and player, she inspires and motivates everyone, including myself and my coaching staff.
Andi has excelled with my high standards and expectations. She creates multimedia stories using a DSLR style camera on her own time and turns natural sound packages using a broadcast style cameras in class.
As an NCAA Big Ten student athlete, Andi is used to working under pressure and juggling a full schedule. I observed that she was highly organized, which allowed her to keep up with the demanding schedule of the course and meet all deadlines.
Don't be shy, ask me about the time I went shopping at Walmart with my mom or about my "starring" role in the play Jungle Book. Let's connect!
